Die Feinwerktechnik hat sich in den letzten Jahrzehnten zu einem selbstiindigen technischen Fachgebiet mit groBer volkswirtschaftlicher Bedeutung entwickelt. Mehr als in anderen Gebieten der Technik ist jedoch in der Feinwerktechnik das Gestalten von Einzelteilen und Baugruppen aufgrund ihrer Vielfalt von den Fertigungsverfahren und den Eigenschaften der Werkstoffe abhiingig. Das Spektrum der Erzeugnisse er streckt sich von Geriit n hochster Prazision, z. B. optische GroBgerate, bis zu denen der ausgesprochenen Massenfertigung, u. a. in der Foto-, Kino- und Uhrenindustrie. Gerade hierbei mussen die Einflusse des fertigungsgerechten Gestaltens weitgehend beachtet werden, damit die Produktion den Anforderungen an die Funktionssicherheit bei Wahrung der Wirtschaftlichkeit gerecht wird. Dieser Bedeutung entsprechend ist das fertigungsgerechte Gestalten fester Bestandteil der Studienplane aller Studien richtungen mit einer konstruktiven und technologischen Grundlagenausbildung an den Universitiiten, Hoch- und Fachschulen. Sowohl fur die in der Praxis tiitigen Kon strukteure und Fertigungsingenieure als auch fiir die -Studierenden stand bisher kein, geeignetes Lehrbuch oder Nachsahlagewerk als Grundlage der tiiglichen Arbeit zur Verfiigung. Die Liicke solI mit diesem Buch geschlossen werden. Sein Aufbau wurde unter Beriicksichtigung des Interessentenkreises so gestaltet, daB nach einer jeweils kurzen Beschreibung der Fertigungsverfahren sowie der Werkstoffe und deren Ver arbeitung zunachst die allgemeinen theoretischen Grundlagen und Gestaltungsricht linien des fertigungs-und werkstoffgerechten Gestaltens in der Feinwerktechnik dar gestellt und dann durch Beispiele belegt werden, die besonders den tJbergang von einer ungiinstigen zur giinstigen Gestaltung veranschaulichen.
